Wintermute

A Hermeneutic Code, as it's not clear what exactly Wintermute is when it is first introduced. Wintermute has a desire to become "free," programmed in at it's inception by Marie-France. However, he lacks personality and substance beyond his acute calculating ability - thus he must represent himself via an avatar of a person in the memory of whoever he is communicating to (The Finn, in Case's case). Upon uniting with Neuromancer, a complete entity if born, as each has what the other lacks. This is essentially a Symbolic Code, as it highlights the dichotomy between the two AI and the contradiction in their natures.
